Congressman Behaving Badly

Nearly every week it seems we hear a report of some elected lawmaker behaving like well like a donkey’s rear. Next up, Republican Rep Christopher Shays of Connecticut. It seems a couple of weeks ago Shays grabbed a US Capitol police officer and used that expletive we all love — you know the one that […]

New TV Mom leaves partner

Television news maven and NBC Today show weekend anchor Campbell Brown is leaving the show. The mom to be and wife of Dan Senor (which makes them a high powered Washington couple) is leaving news co-anchor Lester Holt’s side to host her own program on CNN.  Watch out Campbell, the news hasn’t been good for […]

Cheney Wore His Old Defibrillator Out!

I guess waging wars in the Middle East and shooting your hunting buddy in the face was a little much for Vice President Dick Cheney’s heart defribrillator. It was so worn out the VP had to take a break from his wargames and get a replacement.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again […]

Here I am The Button Man

Let me know if you agree, but last time I checked free speech was guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. Now, I’m not so sure. Last week, a Silver Spring, MD resident, retired college professor Alan McConnell (heretofore known as the Button Man) was arrested for selling  green “Impeach Him” buttons at the Kensington Farmers Market.
Word is…  the Button Man had […]

You Tube Debate

So the Democrats participated in a rather unorthodox kind of forum yesterday — the questions came from users of You Tube. Now some of the questions concerning gay marriage, whether or not to meet with countries the US has traditionally had tensions with and whether a woman can be an effective as leader of the United […]

Cheney in Charge/ Weekend Roundup

So last week President Bush handed the reigns over to Vice President Cheney while Bush had polyps lopped off. Funny thing is that we already know that Cheney has really been in the drivers seat all along and this passing the power thing is just a lot of ceremony… a dog and pony show if […]

Congressional Slumber Party

Lawmakers spent the night working on Capitol Hill Tuesday. Instead of sleeping, members of the House of Representatives debated the merits of a plan to end the war and bring the troops home by April 2008.  Republicans are likely to put the kibosh on the Democrats plan to force an end to the war in Iraq, but the Dems […]

Trolling for Skanks

There should be a new reality television show filmed in Washington (visualize this with me for a moment.) : It should be called “Trolling for Skanks” and the focus of the show would be to see how many of our legislators are actually getting a little on the side.  Senator David Vitter of Louisiana would be a […]

Lets Just Break up with Iraq OK?

Iraq’s Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki  says his government doesn’t need us. One would think that would be reason enough for us to pullout but no. Of course President Bush is ignoring al-Maliki and wants to send more troops. I just don’t get it. If they don’t want us and we don’t want to be there […]

Open Mic Night

One would think that by now political folk would know there’s no such thing as a closed microphone. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards should have known better when comments they whispered to eachother concerning the number of candidates participating in a televised debate were overheard (by the whole world!)
An open mic picked […]

One US Senator and a Brothel

Remember when former President Bill Clinton almost got kicked out of office for having a BJ during office hours. Well, that’s not exactly true, he was impeached for lying about the BJ not getting the BJ. Well during that same time the wife of a Louisiana Senator (a republican David Vitter) said that if she […]

Libby Fallout

So by now you know Scooter Libby, former Chief of Staff for Vice President Dick Chaney won’t be a jailed thanks to the highest level of cronyism. President Bush commuted Libby’s sentence but rumor has it that the White House is now being deluged with angry letters of protest from people who think (and rightly so) that Libby […]

From Criminals to Soldiers?

Okay so can someone please tell me why na’er do wells and criminals who wouldn’t normally be qualified to join the Army are now being recruited and turned into bonafide soldiers? Apparently for the second month in a row, the Army recruiting quotas have fallen to record lows and officials are letting some folks slide […]

Golf Tourney Underway

Word is… Tiger Woods is already on the links again today for the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.
Yesterday, Woods played the 18 hole ”Blue Course,” which boasts some 7,245 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70.  The blue course has been in operation since 1924.
Today’s part of the tournament […]
