While many have expected that the open Senate seat up this year by retiring member John Warner in Virginia is going to be a shoe-in for Democrat and Fmr. Gov. Mark Warner, that perception can only grow after yesterday’s events at the state GOP convention.
It has been assumed that Fmr. Republican Governor Jim […]

According to sources at The Huffington Post, it seems a Florida deal may have been reached.
That deal would proportionally seat the delegates based on the popular vote numbers from Florida, BUT, the delegates to Florida would be halved.
This, according to the numbers reported, would give Hillary a net gain of 19 delegates, […]

Senator Obama’s train temporarily got derailed this spring when millions of viewers checked out clips of Rev. Wright’s sermons on YouTube. Now it’s John McCain’s turn in the YouTube limelight.
The only difference is, this time, it’s his own words that are played over and over again. With this video, already covered in the Los […]

Many have complained that Hillary should have dropped out of the race weeks ago. Many more have complained that her tactics of late have been pretty repulsive. Still, she’s stayed in the race.
What has she been waiting for? Divine intervention? A major endorsement so big it’d send shock waves? Well, the second may have just […]

Two polls from the Deep South came in today, pitting Obama vs. McCain in Alabama and Mississippi.
For decades, the South has been like free electoral votes for the Republicans, allowing them to spend money on normally Democratic turf. This year may be a little different.
According to Rasmussen, John McCain holds a sizable […]

All right. It’s that time of year where we all get excited about who they’re going to pick as their VP’s. It’s like an episode of The Bachelor except with crusty old men and women instead of one’s with washboard abs and beach blonde hair.
So, first up on our detailed Veep Stakes rundown is […]

John McCain has made it clear that he’s going to be pumping some resources into PA and MI, two blue leaning Battleground states. Here’s the ad he’s running there:

The number one story in Washington today revolves around Scott McClellan, the Fmr. White House Press Secretary. In his new book, he comes out swinging as he assails against his old boss and his administration.
Here’s the report today from The Washington Post:
Bush is depicted as an out-of-touch leader, operating in a political bubble, […]

A new SURVEYUSA Poll today shows McCain with a slight lead over Obama in Michigan, 41-37. Note the extreme amount of undecided’s.
With other recent polls from the state, this keeps MI in the “Toss-up” category. That means Obama continues his lead in my electoral college forecast: 242-205. Still, neither candidate is currently in […]

Much has been made of the “Obamaniacs” who support Barack Obama, no matter what. With over 80,000 people turning out in Portland, it’s clear he has quite a supportive group behind him.
Still, many have found his supporters to be ‘creepy’ in their devotion. I was actually here covering this event in Dallas when Barack […]

Ah yes, John McCain. Since he admits he doesn’t know anything about economics, he wants the campaign to be about foreign policy.
Or does he?

George W. and John McCain host a closed door fundraiser tonight, and the media hasn’t been invited. It’s as though the McCain campaign doesn’t want to look connected to W. I wonder why?
It seems that the fundraiser was moved to a private estate as ticket sales were ‘down.’ Again, I wonder why?
So, if you’re […]

For those keeping track at home, according to NBC News, Obama has picked up two more pledged delegates today, one from CO and one from AL. (In each case, Hillary lost one delegate as well.)
Additionally, Obama has picked up one more super from WY.
That means that Obama now needs only 48.5 overall delegates to […]

A new SurveyUSA Poll from Iowa has Obama with a comfortable 9 point lead, 47-38.
This would obviously be a big pickup for Obama as Iowa voted for Bush in 2000. And while not a huge state, 7 electoral votes is 7 electoral votes; votes that Obama will need if he hopes to add […]

There’s a fun op-ed in the NYT today, discussing the possible VP choices.
It begins:
“My first thought on the running mate question is that to balance his ticket, Barack Obama should pick a really old white general. Therefore, he should pick Dwight Eisenhower. John McCain, on the other hand, needs to pick someone younger than […]

After a nine month battle with cancer, Sydney Pollack passed away today. With several Oscars and nominations, Pollack was a director, producer, and actor involved in projects such as MICHAEL CLAYTON, OUT OF AFRICA, THE FIRM, THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR, and TOOTSIE.
An avid fan of the political world…
He will be missed.

With all of the media scrutiny over the last few days, Hillary has made her way down to Puerto Rico.
How has she gotten over the stress of her recent marks?
Alcohol and dancing, take a look-
I think these are the best dance moves I’ve seen since George Bush’s African hand thrusts.
