As Close as She Gets

by J-Michael Cabosky on April 23rd, 2008

After last night, Clinton supporters around the country rejoiced.  For one more night, it seemed like their candidate might actually make it.

Of course, upon waking up in the morning, the dream quickly wore off.

The facts continue that it is IMPOSSIBLE for Hillary to overtake Obama in the pledged delegates.  It is IMPOSSIBLE for Hillary to overtake Obama in the amount of states won.

So, what does that leave?  That means the only way Hillary wins is to, frankly, steal the election through superdelegates.  Do you really think that’ll happen?

The only argument the Clintons are trying desperately to bring up is the popular vote.  (If this was a valid argument, we’d never have the president we have now.)  Currently, after last night, Obama still has around a 500,000 vote lead.  With only seven states left, even if Hillary wanted this to be her argument, a miracle (or nightmare) would have to happen.

If the remaining states break down this way, which might be quite gracious to Hillary’s chances:

NC: Obama wins by 11%

IN: Clinton wins by 5%

WV: Clinton wins by 21%

KY: Clinton wins by 21%

OR: Obama wins by 10%

SD: Obama wins by 10%

MT: Obama wins by 10%

How much further will Clinton get in the popular vote?  ZERO  That’s right, if those numbers occur, which is in line with polls at the moment, they’re a wash.

Alas, the final song has not only been sung, but it started two months ago.  The question is, when will the singer finally be forced off the stage?

Welcome to the channel, very thorough coverage you provide for PA!

As far as this post, I think your right and I hope your right but the Clinton political machine is the X factor that can never be counted out-as far as the Super Delegates in this case.

Regardless, this is not good for the democratic party.
