Starked DC

Congressional Slumber Party

by Tigi B on July 18th, 2007

Lawmakers spent the night working on Capitol Hill Tuesday. Instead of sleeping, members of the House of Representatives debated the merits of a plan to end the war and bring the troops home by April 2008.  Republicans are likely to put the kibosh on the Democrats plan to force an end to the war in Iraq, but the Dems are still hoping they’ll get enough votes to have all of the troops back on US soil next year.

A vote is scheduled for noon Wednesday, the Dems need 60 votes to bring ‘em home. Its not likely they’ll get that many votes with stiff Republican opposition to the plan, but we’ll wait and see.

The Republicans really made a big deal about it being “political theater” and that’s somewhat true but hello that’s politics.

On the Colbert Report, Stephen showed pictures of McCain and some other Republicans and pleaded for the Dems to “Bring these boys home!”

At least they are working at night and not out playing around with hook… I mean “escorts”.
