DNC Meeting Highlights: FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN COMPROMISE
UPDATE: The committee has just voted to seat all of the Florida delegation but offer them only 1/2 of a vote. These delegates will be assigned by the popular vote numbers from the state, awarding Hillary Clinton a net gain of 19 votes (though, Edwards and his 6.5 votes are likely to go to Obama.) The vote was unanimous.
UPDATE: The Michigan compromise has just passed, 19-8. This also grants Michigan to seat their full delegation but only at 1/2 a vote each. They break the delegates 69-59 in favor of Hillary Clinton.
Harold Ickes, a Clinton head campaign adviser, has threatened, with Hillary’s wishes, to take this to the credentials committee in August.
She never gives up, does she?
**********
As the afternoon’s question and answer segment as concluded, the cases have been presented. Now, all that remains is lunch and debate amongst the chair members.
Having watched all of the happenings, I have to agree with MSNBC’S First Read on the best moments from the session.
First you have DNC member Donna Brazile who, when facing Clinton’s Michigan surrogate, responded this way:
“My momma taught me to play by the rules and respect those rules. My mother taught me, and I’m sure your mother taught you, that when you decide change the rules, middle of the game, end of the game, that is referred to as cheatin.’” -DONNA BRAZILE
After Brazile’s comments, Harold Ickes, a DNC member and Clinton supporter piped up, but, instead of asking the guest questions, he began by saying he wanted to make three points.
As he was asking questions, the committee co-hair shut him down saying that this was “the question portion of the program,” meaning that it was no time for Mr. Ickes to make statements.
One other interesting note was when the Clinton testimony stated that, ‘you never know, those delegates could change their minds between now and August.’ The comment was an odd threat which was later summarized as “I was referring to the superdelegates.” Even that is a threat with the Clinton campaign arguing that, even with no grounds to do so, she won’t give in until August.
I hope not to be blogging on this primary race for that much longer. How do you keep commenting on a dead horse?

I was watching the DNC meeting and saw Donna Brazile make the statement that you posted above. I have watched her on CNN and have always appreciated her candor but today, after what I saw from her, I am a full-on Donna Brazile fan!

P.S. The New Yorker in me is wondering why everybody looks ready for business except Ickes, who looks like he just rolled in from an afternoon bbq.

Re: Ickes, I know, right? If you were going to be a stick in the mud, shouldn’t you have at least dressed up like everybody else?
