HURRAY for Jim Webb!!!! Although I do not agree with him on current politics, he is dead on with his comments about the South and the war of northern aggression AKA the “Civil War.” To have a “civil war” the South would have had to invade the north in an attempt to overthrow the government-it did not.
The South had every LEGAL RIGHT to leave the union - PERIOD. Slavery was an issue spun by Lincoln to PRESERVE THE UNION. In his speeches Lincoln stated as much.
The victors ALWAYS write the history books and the WHOPPERS spun in yankee land about slavery being the driving issue in the war of northern aggression is beyond logical thought.
